Scene Containment
Upon handling any scene, it is imperative that a judgement call is established as to whether or not you need to utilise scene containment. For example, a fire up a mountain in an extremely remote location would more than likely require less scene containment etc. than a fire at the casino due to the difference in population and environment. All of these items are available via the Traffic Menu.
Scene Containment Examples and Tips
With scene containment please be smart with it:
Do not use speed zones bigger than needed
Keep the speed zones between 30mph and 50mph
Do not use a million signs, you need enough to be obvious but don't overdo it
You can be creative with the scene containment as long as it does the job
Do not use your vehicle as part of the scene containment as it may get rammed

Speed Zones
Step one of any situation is to place a speed zone. This speed zone should be reasonable and have the speed set to 50mph. Please do not under any circumstances place it below 30 as this can cause issues with connections to the city. You only want the speed zone to cover the area needed. For example, if you can slow only half of the road, this is what you should do. To set a speed zone, you type /trafficmenu or use your O key which will have had the traffic menu binded during training. This will open the below menu.
For you to know if one has been placed, if you look at your map you should see a blue circle as indicated below. This is set to radius 25 and then speed 50mph.
Transparent Fences
Transparent Fences are the most commonly used fence within the London Fire Brigade. We recognise that they are not the prettiest but they are the most effective. These fences cover a bigger radius which means we can place down less objects resulting in less chance of them falling over and bugging out etc. When placing a Transparent Fence, you should be in first person view as this makes it easier. The black bases at the bottom should line up so it looks clean and tidy and does not waste space. Overall, it looks more professional and is more effective. Remember to give yourself space to handle the fire as metal conducts heat and will heat up if they are too close to the fire.
Plastic Fences
Plastic Fences should be used alongside Transparent Fences as they provide an increased visiibility and it prevents individuals from driving into the fire, however it is more likely to fall over which is why we don't just use plastic fences. They should be placed with good spacing as well as they will melt if too close to the fire.
Police Signs
Ordinarily, we would have police assistance with scene containment etc. however sometimes this is not possible and therefore you should know which signs we should be using. Any signs in the below photo can be used as long as they are used smartly. Please don't place a ridiculous amount of them, place them logically to direct traffic. Cones can also be used as a way of diverting traffic.
Worklights
Some situations will have a decrease in lighting and for safety reasons, a worklight should be placed. Furthermore, this tool should be used much further away from the scene so as not to intefere with it and not to end up escalating the fire.
